And the advertisements are tempting. “Become an implantologist.” “Master advanced dentistry.” “Upgrade your clinical skills.” “Start your own practice with confidence.” For a fresh dentist who is confused about what to do after BDS, these courses can look like the perfect next step. But here is something that nobody tells you often enough: You don't need a fellowship just because you have completed BDS. In fact, for some dentists, doing a fellowship immediately after BDS can be a poor decision. That doesn't mean fellowships are useless.
